In the mid-90s a pal and I did extra work on the movie Flubber. It was all night work. We crossed the Stanford campus, pretending to be on our way to the basketball game like 500 times. Then, we cheered for an imaginary game in a huge stadium crowd scene. About 10 years ago, I ran into Mr. Williams in the lobby of the Improv in Los Angeles. Feeling free and frisky, I caught his eye and exclaimed Robin! Oh my goodness, its me Jennifer! Remember me? I was an extra in Flubber! Or something equally asinine. As though wed had some meaningful journey on that film together. He didnt miss a beat. He gave me a great big hug and said Jennifer! How the heck are ya?? Ive missed you! Its wonderful to see you again! It was so ridiculous and silly. We acted like it was the worlds best and long overdue reunion. And we rejoiced in the common recognition of the absurdity of it. Thanks to you, Robin Williams, for bringing so much levity and light to our planet! May it outshine the darkness of your passing, and illuminate the possibility of kindness and compassion and laughter for all time! Love you! Nanu Nanu. 💛💫🚀
