In the modern world few appreciate the willingness of faithful preachers, to boldly proclaim the word of God without compromise, as he risks harm and ridicule every day in service to our fellow man and God (he even makes his fellows angry with him cf. Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar). Indeed the world believes, always has, that it is important to push the preacher aside and for everyone to proclaim their faith. The scripture teaches otherwise (James 3:13-18)! When you attack the truth a gospel preacher preaches you are attacking what Christ teaches! But are not preachers to be judged by everyone since they are under a harsher judgment (James 3:1)? NO, for there are many false prophets in the world and even the church today who are unable to critically evaluate the words of preachers (yes even many who call themselves “sound” preachers!), as they themselves are in need of milk and certainly cannot discern strong meat! The church needs to grow to the point where it can drink milk, where it’s members can shut their mouths around the nipple of the bottle delivered to them by preachers of Christ (Titus. 1:10, 11), and then ultimately grow spiritually to the point where Christ can appoint preachers through every member of every congregation and not merely though “elect ladies” (cf. Matt. 18:17; 2 John 10 even though elect ladies, elders, deacons, men’s business meetings, preachers appropriately are permitted to appoint preachers in spiritually weak congregations!). As a gospel preacher, I need the support and “amens” of the brethren, every single one of you! I need for you to grow to the point where Christ can appoint me or some other preacher through you to proclaim God’s word (3 John 8; Rom. 10:14)! Our relationship with God is dependent upon our ability to behave and encourage one another! Can I get some encouraging “amens” – all of us need to grow to the point to where we can encourage each other daily!
