In the mornings, when we have time, Elijah likes to watch YouTube videos about science—mostly space. This morning, he chose this one based entirely on the thumbnail and I reluctantly let him watch it, since I figured explaining why it might be scary would be just as troubling as watching the thing, and we talked through what was happening. And then we watched one about the asteroid impact that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Lucinda reports this conversation from the drive in today: Elijah: Mama, in one-thousand years an asteroid will boom the earth! Lucy: That sounds kind of scary! Elijah [reassuringly]: Well, well probably be dead by then.
