In the new economy (because really, we know this one cant last long into this century in its present form), its those who follow their passions in wise and practical ways that will set the tone for the future. Are you following your joy? Are you sharing and learning to create your earning? In the new economy, giving will take the place of taking. Well still exchange money, whatever form it takes, but well strive to give more and more value to one another, to teach, to uplift. There is a way commerce and trade can work to the benefit of all and if youre waiting for government or large corporations to take the lead youll never see it. I dont know all the specifics, no one does, but we can see the broad strokes, just waiting for us to fill in the details. I used to create art for free on the pavement and people threw a bit of change into a bucket. Now I give my best for free online and ask nothing in return, but once in a while someone buys a print or throws a few dollars into PayPal for a book. Now Im almost done developing an entire course on something Ive never seen before in quite the way Ive experienced it: How to live a practical, sensible, Creative Life. What does that mean? Being an art fluff floating through the universe? Ha ha...if you want. But to me it means learning to get into that place where creativity comes from and allowing it to guide you in your work, your relationships, your health, your happiness, your business and yes...even your art, whatever that may be. Its allowed me to have a career, to write, to be written about, to appear on news shows and documentaries, to be a part of the nations political conversations and work with youth and schools for more than a decade. Me. An artist. A guy who grew up poor and struggled with depression and anger. A guy who never quite learned to play by the rules. Finding Creativity saved my life. It can save yours. It means finding and applying Presence. Its the invaluable skill of extending the reach of Now into your everyday experience. Is it spiritual? You could say so. It definitely opens you up to inspiration. Is it practical? Theres nothing that makes more nuts and bolts sense. We talk about Creativity like its something beside us, like its separate from us. We think weve lost it or only have so much of it. Im here to tell you its the essence of who you are and its unlimited. On the small scale, I hope to teach you how to build the life of your dreams. On the large scale I hope to teach you how we can change the world. And part of that is knowing you can teach me, and that we all teach each other. Theres an amazing tomorrow waiting for you and you will find it in that elusive place called Today. Some people think 99% of all human productivity happens tomorrow (ha!), but all we ever have is this day. This day to get it right. This day to begin. This day to create everything.
