In the news: two RCMP were shot in St Albert Alberta, and one officer is not expected to survive. The suspect was IDd as Shawn Rehn who is reported to have an extensive criminal history. There are people who are complaining that Rehn should not have been on the street. In Canada, we have a law called the Dangerous Offender law. A person can be charged as a dangerous offender, and if convicted, are given an indeterminate sentence. A person convicted of being a dangerous offender can apply for parole after seven years but the indeterminate sentence usually means a life sentence. The law is in the books and if this person was this much of a threat, than why wasnt he charged as a dangerous offender? It may have saved an officers life
