In the past, the Valley Animal Center has had other rescues donate food they weren’t able to use, to our Halo Cafe - Fresno Countys Pet Food Pantry bin that is onsite at our shelter. We also receive numerous donations from the community to this pet food pantry as well. If you’re not familiar with Halo Café, they run a fantastic program to help families continue to take care of their pets forever by providing pet food to those who cannot afford it on their own. The pet food pantry exists to serve low-income families, elderly and homeless community members in an effort to keep pets with their people and out of already overcrowded shelters. We recently heard the news that our friends at the Delta Humane Society in Stockton, CA had their food source for all their animals taken away without notice and were left scrambling. We are so blessed to have the support we do from our community that we wanted to pay it forward and help out a shelter in need. Not too long ago, we received a generous donation of pet food from Chicken Soup for the Soul that we arent able to use for our shelter animals. Some of our staff took time out of their weekend to transport almost 1,500 pounds of pet food up to Stockton. The Valley Animal Center is incredibly grateful for opportunities like this when shelters and rescues are able to work together to help out the animals. If you are able to donate, the Delta Humane Society is seeking dry and canned dog and cat food donations that can be dropped off at the following locations: - Delta Humane Society Shelter, 4590 S. Highway 99, Stockton - Delta Human Society Thrift and Gift Boutique, 6830 Pacific Ave., Stockton - Carters Pet Mart, 909 W.
