Maybe then, the lasting damage of discriminatory policing in NYC can begin to heal. The joint reform process ordered by Judge Scheindlin in CCR’s federal stop-and-frisk class action lawsuit could and should get us there, but for that we need the NYPD to come to the table as partners with communities and treat them as their constituents whom they are here to protect and serve and who can be an invaluable resource and partner in designing good policing.
