In the run-up to tomorrows supermoon, the moon appeared brighter - TopicsExpress

In the run-up to tomorrows supermoon, the moon appeared brighter and larger than typical yesterday evening over Fermilab in Batavia. Thanks to Ratul Maiti for sharing his photo with us! The supermoon occurs when the full moon occurs on the same days as its perigee, which is the point in the moons orbit when it is closest to Earth. Tomorrows (Sunday 8/10) supermoon is one of the largest and brightest full moons of the year. It will be visible during the evening and overnight hours tomorrow night. The U.S. Naval Observatory says the moon will be 12% bigger and 30% brighter than it was in January 2014. Unfortunately, there could be a fair amount of cloud cover around at the optimal viewing time. Were also expecting increasing clouds tonight. Well post an update on tomorrow nights sky cover forecast during the day tomorrow. #Supermoon
