In the suburb of Royal Oak, you do not have to go far to find liquid. This small metropolis boasts three breweries and a production facility. Today, I visited Bastone Brewery to experience their seven beer flight including six award winning beers; five of which I felt lived up to their accolades. Monumental Blonde is light and crisp with a soft flavor throughout. Main Street Pilsner has a lot of character for a pilsner and won three awards in 2010. Witface is true to its Belgian form with a great nose of orange, lemon, and coriander from beginning to end. Dubbel Vision was one of my favorites of the night; a Belgian Amber with sweet notes throughout and an awesome plum finale. My other favorite was Nectar des Dieux Triple; a Belgian Strong where all of the 9 percent abv was up front, with banana to the nose and mouth with a sweet ending. Needless to say, this is a Belgian style brewery that found its home on Main, and is a classy corner brewery that is worth a stop.
