In the summer of 1974 my mother Geneva E. Stebbins took these photos of the new Standard station at the I-95 interchange. I remember thinking that was such a big, fancy set-up - never thought wed have anything like that in Darien. The sad thing is that at the time, I dont think anyone realized the extent to which downtown Darien would be harmed by the opening of I-95, with all the travelers able to bypass the town altogether.
