In the throes of depression we often think It doesnt matter, no one will care if Im gone, it would be easier for everyone else if I were dead. Dont listen. The Nothing is telling you lies. Someone will always notice that youve left, and someone will always know that youre gone. Always. And after youve gone, someone else will have to pick up the pieces of their life, the life you shattered when you took yourself from them. Suicide might be an easy way out for YOU, but it isnt for anyone else. No matter how rough things get, there is nothing that we cant work through, there is no amount of darkness that does not relinquish to light. When your own light is so dim you cant see it anymore in the dark, FIND MORE. Ask for help. Tell someone that youre hurting. TELL ME, even. Just SOMEONE. And to the rest of you, THIS: when someone comes to you with thoughts of suicide or worthlessness, grasping desperately at wicks of light in the dark, DO NOT BRUSH OFF THEIR EFFORTS. Hug them. And hold their hand, and get in the trench with them. Take your light to where theyre at instead of pointing out all the ways they can make their own light brighter. SHARE YOURS FIRST. Snuggle your fire against their waning spark until the shared heat ignites their heart. No more lives lost for lack of light. Were all in this together.
