In the wake of the NBAs decision to ban Donald Sterling over his racist sentiments, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman says he doubts the NFL would have taken the same kind of action had they been dealing with a similar controversy in their league. Case in point, the continued use of the Washington Redskins team name despite widespread outcry that is it racist: He went on to say that he hoped Sterling’s racism would help the conversation about whether Washington should change its name. “I would hope it would help, Sherman said. It’d help re-initiate the conversation. And at least there would be another discussion. You know, I think the discussion has stopped. And the public has just accepted it.
