In the winter if I had to load or unload in Seattle, Washington I - TopicsExpress

In the winter if I had to load or unload in Seattle, Washington I always kept a weather eye out on possible storms in the area. Many a time I anxiously awaited getting either loaded or unloaded in time to get over Snoqualmie Pass east of Seattle if I was headed to Yakima. Talk about some slippery rides down that pass! If the chain regulations were out I would not drive at all so spent some time in the rest area waiting for the all clear. Never once did I put on a set of chains in the winter - my thinking if it was that bad common sense told me to stay put! In the time periods when I was not having to fight the snow and ice it was a beautiful drive. On a certain trip I was going into Yakima down the mtn grades. On that trip I was flying off the rolling hills not knowing what we called a pie in the sky was up there one time clocking me. I got pulled over for exceding the speed limit as well as the owner operator that was following me. The state trooper asked if we were on company channel and I said yes. He told me he tried to find us to let us know. He then asked me why I was going so fast, and I told him I was just a little bity company truck and I wanted to prove I could stay out in front of the owner operators truck behind me all the way down. He burst out laughing and gave me a warning - said he had never heard that one before LOL
