In the word of God, I Kings 17: 7, Elijah was told by God to leave - TopicsExpress

In the word of God, I Kings 17: 7, Elijah was told by God to leave the brook of Kerith that had dried up, and go to Zerephath where God had commanded a widow woman to sustain him. Now, there was a famine in the land due to the drought that Elijah had proclaimed on behalf of God. When Elijah got to the gate of the city, he met the widow he was to be sustained by. The widow was gathering sticks to prepare the last meal for her and her son. She was down to her last flour in a jar, and her last oil in a jug. It was all she had left, and conditions were so bad that she couldnt resort to begging, because no one had anything to spare. Elijah, the man of God, asked her for half of her last. In fact, he asked her to prepare for him something to eat, before she prepared for herself and her son. She was reluctant to share her last meal, but after Elijah promised her God would provide for her, and her flour and oil would not run out, she was obedient and shared her last, with the man of God. This lesson is so very powerful when we apply it to our lives because, the God that we serve has promised to provide for us, but instead of having faith in him, we often want to hold on to what we THINK is our last. When the woman gave Elijah a portion of her last flour, and her last oil, and after her and her son had eaten, both vessels appeared empty by sight. After all she only had enough for her and her son, and she stretched that so that Elijah could eat also. However because of her obedience and faith, going forward, the bible says the jar was never empty, and the jug was never empty. She never lacked for what she needed. When we empty ourselves of the flesh, and the natural, and when we eliminate the carnal from our spirit, and operate on faith, then God can fill us up where we are empty. God can give us exactly what we need. As long as our Spirit is empty of everything except faith, and obedience the Spirit of the Lord can fill us up and we will never be in need of anything. God can supply all of our needs, according to his riches in glory. I urge you to have the faith of the widow woman, and empty your vessels, give God your last first, give God all you have spiritually, and have faith, you will be blessed beyond measure. In Jesus name.
