In the words of Howard Zinn, “How can you have a war on terrorism when war itself is terrorism?” If you treat these people as human beings, you understand why bombs and bullets will never end the war of terrorism, for it is the military operations conducted in the region that promote the very terrorism we claim to be against. Every terrorist killed leaves behind a loved one and friend. Some of these people will take it upon themselves to pursue revenge in the name of the fallen, thus prompting additional military operations. For this reason, peace can never be achieved through violent means. Violence begets more violence. If we want peace, we will stop encouraging society to enlist in the military and be used as pawns for furthering the economic objectives of politicians and their corporate handlers. We will stop voting for war-mongers residing in the Republican and Democratic Parties.
