In this current state of affairs I find myself unsettled at the way we handle our immigration issues. There is to much politicizing at both extremes when all we need to do is redefine and develop a common vision for our relationship with Mexico. Immigration reform has received broad support from both Democrats and Republicans, business groups, law-enforcement organizations and faith-based community leaders. Because of the economic advantages of cross border trade for Mexico and the United States, and a robust labor pool that would be actualized by overhauling the nation’s immigration system, we can boost our economy and reduce our budget deficit. I am committed to supporting and strongly advocating for immigration reform. If elected governor for Arizona I will take a national lead to support a comprehensive immigration reform effort that involves not only measures to secure our border but to create more efficient pathways to citizenship for those individuals that desire to become United States citizens.
