In this part of the world, South Africa, you can have the public institution, through its employees, the people who have taken oath, the people who earn a living to protect the citizens, through the taxes of the citizens, meting out brutality to the very citizens. And not even a single senior official, let alone politician, will resign, as a way of showing remorse; a show of leadership, such that - perhaps - something like this will never happen again. To demonstrate what I am saying, this very update can be misconstrued to being a political statement. I could be told to shut up. Therefore, the senior officials and politicians, when confronted by such actions, either look to cover-up, or to make wild excuses. It is never about protecting the tenets of the institution they are serving, the human right values for which the institution was established. To the leaders, it becomes a matter of saving ones skin, because in this country, South Africa, the job of a public servant, the career of a politician, precede the calling for which the nation is paying them for. It is getting worse. IT IS GETTING WORSE... IT IS GETTING WORSE!
