In this weeks edition: Patti Lomax & Andy Paterson Discuss THE RAILWAY MAN & PTSD In A Special Show Dedicated To Nathaniel Silverstone, RASC 18th Division, 53rd Brigade. FEPOW at Changi prison & the Burma Railway. The fall of Singapore to the Japanese Army on February 15th 1942 is considered one of the greatest defeats in the history of the British Army and probably Britain’s worst defeat in World War Two. Eric Lomax, was a young British soldier who was tortured by the Japanese while he was a prisoner at a labor camp forced to work on the Burma Railway, also known as the Death Railway, because over 12,000 Allied prisoners died building it. Half a century later Eric Lomax met and forgave one of his torturers — an experience he recounted in a memoir, “The Railway Man” which is now a film starring Colin Firth as Eric Lomax, Jeremy Irvine playing the younger Lomax and Erics wife Patricia is played by Nicole Kidman. The films producer Andy Paterson and the real Patricia Lomax are my special guests today!
