In this world.... the Gods have lost their way.... Heres the thing. Is Retro as good as it was the first time? I mean, if its not a matter of high hopes for the new Yes album just around the corner, then theres hoping that at least Yes will throw a few things proggie our way. The reason I say this is because I had the chance of hearing the new Mike Oldfield album and its unfortunately not anywhere near his earlier stuff. Maybe Im being unreasonable. Maybe Im being selfish. Bands dont want to repeat themselves. Theyve done it already, theres an undiscovered country to go out and find. Trouble is theyre leaving people like me and some of you behind who havent finished in this country yet. Hearing the new Mike Oldfield album had me reaching out for Ommadawn with a touch of Incantation to console my inner prog-child. So should we let bands follow their own path of evolution and leave us with their DNA, or do we go looking for the same jollies someone else?
