In todays edition of Huh? Healthcare we are revisiting the issue of Pediasure formula. Why? you ask. Just because we can! they say. The insurance has suspended paying for Tylers formula again pending a current weight/growth chart from his GI doctor. Before he started the formula, he was in less than 6% of kids his age and considered underweight. Since then, he has gained weight and is now in the 25% :) Pediasure is his primary source of nutrition. If they try to deny and say he is now at a healthy weight, I just might have to let crazy out of the box. That is the equivalent of them paying for my high cholesterol medicine and then refusing to pay for it once my labs are normal because of the meds. Does he have to become malnourished and underweight again for them to agree to pay? On top of that, just called the GI to get apt and they can get us in----- in JUNE!!! END RANT. I tell stories like this because sometimes I need to vent and the foolishness of it all can only be laughed at if I want to stay sane. I dont even worry when this kind of thing happens because a) it doesnt help and b)it will work out one way or another and we will handle it. We are very fortunate. Brian has a good job. We have resources and support in our community, friends, and family. Everyone is not so lucky. But keep in your mind the families that face issues like this on a daily basis~~~Doctor appointments, therapies, fighting insurance companies, bills, hospital stays, and medicines all take a toll after awhile. Say a prayer for our friends and their families and stay kind my peeps.
