In todays training, we were asked to write a paragraph about someone we know who is a personal hero. Who else would I write about? Some people have to look a long way to find an amazing role model. I have never needed to look farther than my own home. My mother grew from a childhood of poverty but still found a way to build a business that enabled her to teach and mold young ballerinas. She loved that chapter of her life, but it ended around the same time her first child passed away. This was a tremendous amount of loss to overcome, but she persevered, continuing to support and grow her family. She wasnt always happy about the work she had to do, yet always stepped up to fulfill her responsibilities. Years later, she realized her calling was to help and heal others through holistic and oriental medicine. She put herself through medical school with hard work and long hours, never giving up. Now as an Acupuncture Physician she always puts the needs of her patients above her own, giving all her energy and time, often even treating people for free simply because its the right thing to do. This woman has taught me the importance of tenacity, growth, and compassion. I couldnt be more grateful for that education.
