#InLambertWeTrust Yes, we lost to bottom club Leicester City. Yes, we are the lowest scorers in the Premier League. Yes, we have been battling relegation since Martin ONeil left. But I plead to all Villa fans. Lets put things into perspective. In the game yesterday, former Villa boy Albrighton was at the centre of everything for Leicester City. We knew what he can do when he was at Villa. Lambert wanted to renew his contract last season. Was it Lamberts fault if the club is unable to match a typical wage that even a club like Leicester City can offer. Who was the one who signed Benteke and re-signed a Brad Guzan disillusioned by McLeish, who convinced Benteke to stay when he seemed certain to leave Villa Park for Spurs 2 seasons back. Its Lambert for god sake. Yes. We are a club with rich history and we are one of the only 6 clubs who never got relegated since the inception of Premier League. But seriously, do we really think the players that we got can now match the level of Milner, Young, McGrath, Saunders, Daley, Merson,Laursen, Yorke, Townsend etc? Absolutely Not! Was it Lamberts fault for the wage cap and cost cutting measures? ONeil paid high wages when he sign players back in the late 2000s. Most of what Lerner is willing to invest has all been spent by ONeil. Did Houllier or McLeish did better than Lambert? Villa football during McLeish time has been one of the most uninspiring and ultra-conservative, not forgetting he bought Bent at a club record signing fees. Lambert came in at a time when the club is tightening its purse drastically thanks to his wasteful predecessors. He came in, work on a budget that no Premier League Manager will be willing to without any complaints for the past 3 seasons. ONeil left the club for a lack of transfer fund and perceived lack of ambition from Lerner, Lambert stood by us. Under him, we played some long ball tactics , but we also played some of the finest and speediest counter attacking tactics. Finally this season, he made changes, infuse the squad with experienced old hands, played a more possession based game. But fans never take into account that we never really had a fully fit squad. Key players are always hampered by injuries, and its been a while since we did finish a game with 11 men on the field. Cant they see time is needed for the squad to really groove with the new style of play. We faced a similar phase before we raised up our game with our counter-attacking gameplay that has been keeping us in the Premier League for the past 2 seasons. Lambert always kept the core of the squad together. He remain focused and steady the rocking boat when back room changes and scandals hit Villa. He never for once complained openly about the lack of ambition from Lerner, transfer kitty or the club being put on sale and the repeated calls for his head. He just stay positive, keep the team and himself focused so much so that that maybe our own fans have forgotten we are a still a club on sale for the past 6 months without a single potential buyer. Calls for Lambert to be sacked just show the huge gap between the fans expectation, Randy Lerners ambition and money-power reality. It just show how much we are living in the past. It just show how fickle fans can be. Lambert may not be the best manager as yet, but at present , who can replace him, who is willing to take his seat... Even if there is, for how long, how much restructuring is required again... Well be getting risky unproven pedigree at best... Whats the point... Stability is the key... If anything needs changes... It should not be Paul Lambert name in the manager office. He have keep us afloat so far... Believe that he will do so again and strive for more. Villa fans, Please have some decent sanity. Support the team and manager in bad times...like Wigan fans with Martinez previously. The football world needs more appreciation and patience... Enough of disdain and skeptism... #avfc #vtid #UTV
