Incident 29. Roseberry Topping. (Rescue) The next day we were back to Roseberry. Cleveland Police rang at 14-00 to ask for our help. A young lad walking up Roseberry with his father had become crag fast on some very slippery steep shale. His father did not want to make matters worse by attempting a rescue himself and running the risk of getting himself stuck, so sensibly rang the Police for help. With a bit of technological wizardry we got a grid reference for the couple, rang them to assure them that help was on the way, and mobilised. Soon we located the couple and made the young lad safe. He was then roped up and pulled up the shale slope to safety, Both were uninjured and we escorted them down to the car park at Newton. There were 12 of us involved in this Incident which lasted just over an hour.
