(July 23, 2013) The Hardluck Fire grew to 250 acres since yesterdays reconnaissance flight. Weather forecasts indicate a drying trend with evening thunderstorms over the next 3 days. Smoke from the lightning-caused fire is visible along the South Fork Shoshone River corridor and will be visible for at least the next few days. Fire managers are focused on public and firefighter safety and reducing potential threats to private property and structures. An area closure will be in effect during todays operational period for the safety of backcountry travelers. Please see attached map for closure details. A 3-person crew is positioned south of the fire area to monitor fire behavior and advise travelers. Daily reconnaissance flights will continue over the fire.
