Inciweb: Whiskey Complex Update, September 8 (Whiskey Complex Wildfire): The Smith Ridge Fire was declared “out” today. Crews continue to find hot spots using infrared cameras along the eastern flank of the Whiskey Fire and are working hard to meet mop up objectives on some very steep ground all the while keeping a watchful eye on the interior as large areas of unburned remain smoldering well within the perimeter. These unburned areas can when the weather warms burn rapidly sending showers of burning embers into the air threatening the containment lines. As mop up objectives continue to be achieved activities on the Whiskey Complex Fires are shifting into high gear on Fire Suppression Repair work the first of three phases of rehabilitation efforts to be accomplished over the next few weeks and months. The three phases of rehabilitation efforts following wildfires on federal lands are; Fire Suppression Repair; Burned Area Emergency Response; and Long-term Recovery.
