India Baptist Missions. In studying about the Babylonian - TopicsExpress

India Baptist Missions. In studying about the Babylonian captivity of the children of Israel, we find it is recorded in seven books in the Old Testament: Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Haggai, Zechariah, Daniel and Malachi. The prophet Haggai is mentioned in Ezra 5:1 where Ezra spoke of as one who prophesied to the Jews, but he does not tell us the message he delivered. This was left to be included in the book that bears his name. In the book of Ezra, we find the building of the Temple had been hindered by those who sought to do harm to the Lord’s work. It seems the Lord saw fit to use Haggai to stir up the people and cause them to return to the much needed task that was before them. He was a contemporary with Ezra and Zechariah. Man’s voice is not always the voice of God. In the prophecy of Haggai, we find a very good example of this. In Haggai 1:2 the people spoke and said, “The time is not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.” But in 1:4-9, The Lord spoke and said, “Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste...Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house” (KJV). Does this remind you of any you have known in the local churches who do not want to go forward? What about yourself?
