India has been running her own affairs since the actual transfer of power from British to Indian hands on 15th August 1947. Mahatma Gandhi wrote in “Harijan”, “The best, quickest and most efficient way is to build up from the bottom . . . Every village has to become a self-sufficient republic. This does not require brave resolutions. It requires brave, corporate, intelligent work. . .” Are the governments at various levels, government functionaries / officials, our esteemed elected representatives and responsible citizens striving towards accomplishing the vision / dreams of the Father of the Nation in reality and in true letter & spirit?
