India v/s Australia 4th Test Day 4, Sydney: Can Virat Kohli guide India to safety on crucial day?: Welcome to the coverage of the fourth day of the 4th Test between India and Australia at Sydney. The day begins at 5:30 am IST. On Day 3, India managed to post a competitive score of 342/5 in response to Australia mammoth first-innings total of 572/7 declared. Virat Kohli was once again the hero for India, scoring an unbeaten 140, his fourth century of the series. In doing so, he broke and created a slew of records. The hero of the day however was KL Rahul, who scored his first Test century - a hard-earned 110. Click here for the match report. The efforts of those two batsmen have put India to within sniffing distance of avoiding the follow on. However, the team will be looking for much more. India can scarcely hope for a victory after conceding nearly 600 runs in the first innings on a flat Sydney wicket. India should ideally aim to reach 500, in order to minimise Australias advantage on Day 4. The idea should be to provide the home side a minimal lead and also minimal time to put up a substantial lead in their second innings. Australia on the other hand will look to get kingpin Kohli as early as possible, and keep India under 450. Though Indias lower order has come up short in this series, the addition of Bhuvneshwar Kumar might boost their prospects.
