Indian Summer So August passed us by with temperatures which for Mallorca, were really rather moderate. Possibly a backlash from Hurricane Bertha, but the island enjoyed a fair breeze throughout August which kept the temperatures pleasantly in the high 20s. Just as the tourists head for the airport en masse, the temperatures have soared again and are expected to stay in the mid 30s for the next week or so. As summer holidaymakers wave goodbye, the inevitable mellowing of the weather sees the resumption of fun autumn activities. While hikers dust off their boots and cyclists return, the autumn programme for guided tours around Palma and other island towns begin. September is one of the better months to enjoy Mallorca with its milder temperatures although, the odd deluge of rain is quite likely. With such a hot summer, I’m sure gasping and parched gardens will salute the slightest drop of rain!
