< Indias global ranking in favouritism shown by government officials to influential corporates has improved sharply from 94th in the last year to 49th place this year. < It, however, still remains far below that of China and other major economies. < As per an annual study by the World Economic Forum, Indias ranking has also improved significantly in terms of public trust in politicians. < The study says, besides, India has improved its position with regard to diversion of public funds and irregular payments and bribery at government institutions. In the BRICS block, Indias ranking is better than that of Russia, South Africa and Brazil.
