India’s National Scrabble Champion Sherwin Rodrigues (Mumbai) - TopicsExpress

India’s National Scrabble Champion Sherwin Rodrigues (Mumbai) sparkled in the Sri Lanka International Scrabble tournament to take the 3rd position in the event that featured some of world’s best players. Nigel Richards (New Zealand) the 3-Time World Champion won the tournament. Last year Sherwin Rodrigues finished 9th at the World Championship held at Prague in Czech Republic in a field comprising of participants from over 60 countries. This young amazing whiz kid has the style of Vishwanathan Anand if I correlate the two games, though he resembles Magnus Carlsen in age and temperament. Sherwin is humility personified. I had the satisfaction of breaking his National Championship streak in 2012. When I said - Sherwin maybe I was lucky to beat you 4 games in a row, he said “Why lucky? You played well and deserved to win.” That compliment made me feel great and the National title 2012 gave me immense fulfilment.
