Indigenous Artist led creative workshop at Bardon Mayfair this Sunday, BOOK your place NOW! Contemporary Aboriginal Artist, Craig Tapp (Tappy), a descendent and storyteller of the Indigenous people of Moreton Bay Region, Quandamooka Yuli Burri Bah (Place of the people of the land and sea), will be the Bardon State School resident artist at Bardon Mayfair on Sunday, May 25. Craig is a Nuggi Noonnucal, a North Stradbroke Resident and a founding member of the acclaimed Salt Water Murris Artists. Craig’s ephemeral large-scale Sand Art paintings drawn on headland beaches of Stradbroke invite the viewer to engage in the connection of; land, wind, sea, and spiritual attributes of the sacred environment. Craig’s underpinning statement, people need to unite to preserve and care for the earth. His latest works signify activism for marine animals of Quandamooka (Moreton Bay). As part of his project, Mother Earth Coming Together for all Children, Craig’s guided workshop for children inspires them to create their own narratives integrating indigenous art and culture with Sand Art. The children use sacred Stradbroke Island ochre sands as the medium to develop their own Sand Art Masterpiece. Donate money $10, $15, $20 or eat your heart out and go $50 for your child to participate in this creative workshop. There are a LIMITED number of canvasses and each participating child will walk away with their very own indigenous led, environmental Sand Art creation. Book your place now! All money raised will be donated to Bardon State School to fund teacher aides, school facilities and classroom supplies. Contact Sally King at ultrasuite@me
