Indiscipline cost the Nadi side gravely as they slipped to an embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Amicale FC of Vanuatu. Referee Norbert Hauata handed red cards to Uraia Loki and Ratu Bainivalu for fouls which local referees normally punish less severely. Nadi lacked any kind of structure and rarely tested Amicale goal keeper Chikau Mansale. The six-nothing shut out saw Serbian Nikola Vasilic grab the tournament’s first hatrick ended Nadi’s slim semifinal hopes. Amicale FC now leads the group with a superior goal difference and a draw against Auckland City FC will see them into the semifinals. Coach Nathan hall was proud of his players for defeating such a good team so comprehensively. “With nine players your team is bound to get fatigued towards the end of the game and we took advantage of that and got a good goal difference,’ said Hall. “We now look forward to Auckland who like us, is a great team,” he added. Nadi coach kamal Swamy said that his team had learned valuable lessons promised to be back for the next champion’s league. “We will give all our youth boys a run in the final game,” Swamy said. Meanwhile Auckland defeated AS Dragon 3-0 in the other game of day five setting up and epic clash between Amicale FC and Auckland FC to decide who qualifies for the semifinals of the OFC champion’s league.
