“Indoda iyasetshenzelwa” Part 1 Insert 25# The sound of the buzzer woke Vee. She jumped out of bed thinking that it was Sthe. When she was about to answer it she remembered that Sthe had no business using the intercom system as he had his own keys. Her instincts immediately told her that it was her mother. She decided to ignore the buzzer knowing that her mother would eventually give up and leave her alone. Vee did not want her mother to see her and the apartment in that state and she sure as hell did not want the “I told you so” lecture. She searched for her cellphone to check what day it was. The cellphone was off. The battery must of switched off whilst she was asleep. She scrambled around the messy apartment searching for the charger, not wanting to miss a call from the love of her life. After having the phone on charge for a few minutes she switched it on. She listened to the voice messages. Nothing from Sthe! A few from her friends asking her where she was and some from her mother nagging her call back. Vee returned her mother’s call telling her that she was out of town and would be returning next week. Her mother scolded her about switching her phone off and not letting her know where she was so that she did not have to waste her petrol driving all the way to her apartment to see if she was okay. Vee’s instincts were right. It was her mother who had painfully woken her up. After taking a shower she dressed and headed for the doctors rooms. She needed a letter for work to justify her absence. On her way she called the office and reported sick again. She really had no idea how she was going to face Sthe again. She thought of going to him to beg her to take her back but that little bit of pride that was left inside of her told her that it was a bad idea. She also knew that if he rejected her again she would die on the spot. The doctor examined her and asked her how she was feeling. She didn’t know how to respond to such a simple question. Vee just broke down in tears. He asked her if she wanted to talk about it. Vee shook her head because she didn’t know where to start. The doctor needed no further explanation. He immediately diagnosed her with depression and gave a referral letter to see a psychologist. The doctor also prescribed some medication which he said would calm her nerves and help her to sleep. Vee was booked off work for three weeks. That was music to her ears. At least she wouldn’t have to face Sthe anytime soon and maybe not seeing her for two weeks would bring him back to his senses. Vee took the envelope that the doctor handed her and left. In her mind she had already told herself that she was not going to see a shrink. She was not crazy. All she wanted was Sthe back and no amount of therapy would bring him back or make her stop loving him.
