#Indonesia top for wildlife crime. The wildlife crime record for Indonesia between January and June 2014 has been released, reports the conservation body Protection of Forest and Fauna (PROFAUNA). The record proves that illegal wildlife trade is still rampant in Indonesia, as there were at least 22 cases of wildlife trade and poaching uncovered by the law enforcement bodies. During that six months, thousands of wildlife victims were confiscated from suspects. Among those animals and their products were orangutan, slow loris, javan langur, siamang, pangolin, green sea turtle, palm cockatoo, a stuffed Sumatran tiger, and ivory. The protected species were rescued from poachers and dealers from different cities such as Jakarta, Tangerang, Denpasar, Aceh, Jember, Lampung, and Palangkaraya. The illegal commodities were about to be sold in Indonesia, as well as smuggled to other countries such as Kuwait, France, and China. It could be assumed that the real number of wildlife crime cases are much higher than the police have uncovered, said Swasti Prawidya Mukti, the campaign officer for PROFAUNA.
