Infiltration bid foiled in Poonch sector | Army Srinagar, May 3 | The army on Saturday foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu region. A senior defence official told GNS: “Early wee hours today, alert troops in Saujiyan area near the LoC noticed movement of at least three to four militants. “These militants were tried to sneak inside our territory, however, the alert troops challenged them. The group of militants continued to close in towards our post in the area, following which they were fired upon”, the official said. He said that the group of militants later moved back, hence foiled the infiltration attempt by our alert troops deployed there. However, the search operation in the area is still going on. (GNS)
