Inflation here in Argentina has been hovering around 38% to 40% for a few months now. Because of government ineptness, the rate is expect to rocket higher. Yesterday, I had coffee with a friend who has been converting my dollars to pesos on the black market. He told me that with the expected jump in inflation, he will no longer be able to do the conversion because he will have to bring the currency in a wheelbarrow to our meetings. He is going to hook me up with a black market exchange house so I can keep converting. While the spike in inflation is great for me, its rough on Argentines and anyone who gets paid in pesos. When I was in Ms. Shavers first grade class at Ashwood Elementary, I never thought I would become familiar with the black market and black market operatives in South America.
