Info for 9th October 2014 HELP PLEA IT was the year that the Beatles went on their first world tour and the Forth Road Bridge finally allowed vehicles to travel between Edinburgh and Fife. But more importantly for generations of Braw Lads and Lasses, 1964 saw the officially opening of the new Galashiels Academy in Elm Row. To mark the 50th anniversary milestone, a special celebration party night is being held in the main school hall on the evening of Saturday, November 29. Galashiels Academy Parent Council, who are organising the event, have adopted one of the Fab Fours number one hits and issued a special Help plea. As well as a disco and buffet, the night will feature live musical entertainment and Parent Council are calling on talented ex-pupils and friends of the school to take their turn on the stage. They are also looking for photographs of ex-pupils and classes which can go in display in the main hall. Anyone who can assist with these requests is urged to contact Caroline McKendrick on 07939 46803907939 468039 or e-mail [email protected] Tickets priced £10 will go on distribution shortly.
