You can register online at the American Red Cross Safe and Well Registry so that family or friends can search for you and know youre safe. Red Cross: You can donate to the Red Cross or ask about volunteer opportunities. Any amount is helpful. Call 1-800-RedCross or donate online. You can also text the words RedCross to 90999 and $10 will be charged to your cell phone bill. United Way of Snohomish County has a Disaster Recovery Fund for Mudslide Relief and you can donate online. State employees can donate to the mudslide relief campaign online or through their pay checks through the Combined Fund Drive Muslide Relief Campaign. Charity scams: As you consider donating to mudslide relief, we urge you to use caution and avoid mudslide charity scams. State resources Health insurance: Residents impacted by the mudslide may be able to receive immediate health insurance through Apple Health (Medicaid) Food and cash assistance: Dept. of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Mobile Community Services Office is open in Darrington on 1075 Fir St, to provide food and cash assistance to those that are eligible. Open hours are: Thursday, 3/27: 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Crisis counseling and support: To talk to a trained counselor about stress, anxiety, or shock, you can call: Care crisis line: 1-800-584-3578 Disaster distress helpline: 1-800-985-5990 Driver licenses: If you or someone you know lost their driver license or ID card and need a replacement, please contact the Dept. of Licensing at 360-902-3933 or [email protected] to request a replacement. Vaccines: Disaster responders should be up to date with their tetanus and Hepatitis B vaccine series. Contact your healthcare provider. Birth certificates and other records: You can obtain copies of birth certificates or other vital records from the Washington State Department of Health. Tax Assistance: Property owners affected by the mudslide are also eligible for property tax relief. The Washington State Department of Revenue has more information. Unemployment: If you or your family’s employment has been affected by the mudslide, you may be eligible for Disaster Unemployment Assistance. Insurance Coverage: Anyone with questions about insurance coverage related to the mudslide can call the Office of the Insurance Commissioner at 1-800-562-6900 to speak with experts.
