Initially comrades, the matter of NSFAS is a national issue that the government held accountable of, it is our same government that did not pump sufficient funds to NSFAS. The NSFAS is receiving resources from the government in order to be able to handle and pay for the students debts. Last year about 80% of students were not paid for by NSFAS due to shortage of funding. So I want us to shift the blame from our NSFAS and institution and pose it to government and parliament relevant entitled officials. Secondly, NSFAS and Walter Sisulu University are two different institutions with two unique mandates, 1. NSFAS is there to provide Loan funding for students and has no duty to offer any educational activity in the exception of paying the debts of students to the University. 2. Walter Sisulu University is an academically institution that offers variety of courses for educational purp oses and its existence is defined by the learning and teaching process. So the institution is not held liable to pay for students and doesnt even care where are you going to obtain funds for your studies. Funding and debts payment is a deal between a student and NSFAS, if a student is rejected by NSFAS, that student is not rejected by University, and the Institution has no intentions for the financial exclusion of a student. Again we as students we need to be responsible, sometimes students are rejected by NSFAS because of false documents and information, comrades we need to remind ourselves that NSFAS is meant for financial needy students not pretentious bourgeoisie from first class individuals. Those who benefit from NSFAS while they are not desperate for the funding, they are closing or limiting opportunities for the poorly disadvantaged students. Also we will forever clarify retoric misinformed and lost information. students who were rejected by NSFAS were never registering paying a full registration fee,if one reads all communique by the VC,i think item number 1 was as follow All first entering students are permited to register with an MIP of not less than R2000. SASCO is nt pefect n has never claimd to be,so as its SRCs bt the undeniable fact is that,we have managed to drop the MIP from R5700 to R2000 n u were ther in those discusions,only it was SASCO.
