Injah. We started off at the Denpasar airport, finally with all of our passports in hand and i was told i couldnt take my favorite natural not available in indonesia toothpaste with me cuz it was 106 ml instead of 100. so i had to buy a silly bali bag to check it on thru (yes, the tiny babe made it to india!). our first night was in delhi near the airport so we could catch an early flight to manipur. the three of us looksed askance at the three story walk up but it turned out to be perfectly fine, AC and hot water working just fine and for only $12! what a bahrgain. then we get to the manipur airport. it takes over an hour to fill out forms (computers? ha.. they only are allowed four hours of electricity a day in their homes, good way to keep the insurgents from posting on FB, seriously folks). no worries. until we look up and see a lot, i mean a f**king lot of soldiers with MK47s (I am not making this up). Manipur is a forgotten state of India in the NE corner; ethnically they are much closer to Burmese and Thais than Indians and their language sounds quite different as well (i havent researched it but im sure one of my FB mates will let me know what language family its from). so we go to the parking lot and wait around for a while as our friendly tour guide (the only one in the state i think) figures out how to get all of us into these tiny cars and to the uni campus. our rooms are huge with a living area as well. and a tv that might work. with lots of things that might work. it was like being in a l970s movie w/o all the fun stuff. BUT we got BED TEA, 6:30 am sharp a young man brought us Chai. i love chai and so i was in heaven. piping hot and in this tiny cups (give us more please, i am telling you, wobble wobble). breakfast was white bread and something akin to margarine and maybe a banana. fruit was not in abundance at our brekky tables anywhere in India altho it was in all the markets. hmmmm.
