Inquiry_Tigger (Tuesday 3rd September 2013) The Stewards on Tuesday 3rd September 2013 conducted an inquiry into the analyst’s findings following analysis of post race urine samples taken from Tigger following its 3rd placing in Race 2,‘The Supertote SMS Betting Trophy’, Saturday 10th August 2013. The initial analysis was performed by the MTC Laboratory which revealed the presence of Furosemide. On Monday 19th August 2013 Trainer S.Henry was notified of the analyst’s findings, at which time he requested that the B sample be forwarded to LCH Paris for confirmatory analysis. On Friday 23rd August 2013 LCH Paris reported the confirmation of Furosemide. Furosemide is a prohibited substance having an action on various systems of the horse and is also a masking agent. Evidence today was taken from Trainer S.Henry, Headgroom Christome Antonio, Dr. Bissessur,Veterinary Surgeon Henry Stable, Bertrand Baudot, MTCL analyst, Dr. Christian Bourdet, MTCRegulatory Veterinary Surgeon and Nawaz Rawat, MTC Security Manager. It was established that Tigger which had previously bled received its normal injection of Diuride 500 on Tuesday 6th August 2013. Diuride 500 has the active ingredient of Furosemide. However, theanalysis of pre-race blood samples taken at 7.30 a.m on Friday 9th August 2013 failed to reveal anyprohibited substances. Surveillance video cameras revealed that Dr. Bissessur and headgroom, Christome Antonio hadentered the box of Tigger shortly after 5 a.m on Friday 9th August 2013. Dr. Bissessur explained thatthis time he had inspected Tigger as it was his usual practice to inspect all runners prior to racing. The inquiry was adjourned at a date to be fixed.
