Insert 62 Tears were striking.I started crying. Gogo: Susilila kaloku Sanalwam marn. Me: Kodwa Gogo kutheni ningancedi u Lathi? GoGo: Kudala ndithetha no Lathi, uziqonde ngoku simsa e boarding school. Me: Bendicela uyombona? Gogo: Okay iya endlini uxelele u Samuel anise. Me: Uyamziba uphi? Gogo: Ewe besikhe saya ukwalapha e Khayelitsha. U Mama walamntana akakhathali kudala ndathetha, naye. Into ayaziyo xayepeyile kunxila qha. After a while i left. This was too sad. Lathi had a mother who was a drunkie, No one to tell him what to do and what not to do. No one beating or lectures him up, if he did something wrong. If Gogo was not around, he would die by being stoned to death. Especially in this Khayelitsha township. This place is the countries most murderous area, and I was beginning to be scared of it. Ive heard about Mob justice, but have never watched it. Ive seen taxi drivers and Members of the community gathered around a field while I was passing by car, but never watched. But now it happened to someone I love, someone I take as a brother. Where do you get guts by doing such things? They say The law had failed and we just helping them, since there are a lot of thiefs ,murders and robbers more than the police. Yes sometimes theyd have valid reasons. But within this innocent people are dying, they being accused for things they havent done, cause these vigilante mobs need no evidence or proof. Sometimes you even killed by only stealing a cellphone, the reality is that every day people are being beaten by vigilante mobs. And the fact is that people are murdered for the very same crimes they are beaten up for. As I walk back I see Lathis mother. She calls my name. Her: Onesimo? I look at her. She says nothing, its the first time she even called my name. The only thing she ever said was that Gogo thinks shes better than her and Gogo thinks she cant raise her own son. I leave her standing there cause she basically said nothing. I get home and there are still people around , they dj was still playing soft music Sunday Chill. I get inside the house, I look for Ongeziwe and I find her. Me: Gogo uthi cela siyeni kuLathi? Ziwe: Oh yha, its a family day today,and- Me: Uphi u Bhuti Sam? Gogo uthi masicele yena. Well I interrupted her cause she was wasting time and kept breaking Gogos rule. Gogo made it clear that no one must speak english infront of her or Neighbours and she kept breaking the rule. Well me and Xolo respected that rule, we only spke english when we together in a room. Ziwe: Okay lemme go tell him. Me: Okay ndizobe ndimcelela ukutya e kitchen. I go to the kitchen and I see a ladie there. Me: Molweni sisi. Her: Molo. Me: Bendicela I plate ne 2L yhe drink? Her: For Ntoni? Heee and now? What the hell is she asking? Me: For mna. She doesnt answer and she dishes for me and gives me what I want. I go to Sams car and his already waiting inside the car. I put everything inside and get inside the car. Me: Sizohamba soyi 2. Sam: No Xolo is coming. We wait for a while, and I kept hoping that Xolo pitches with Litha. But he didnt , he knocked at the window and Sam unlocked for him. He got inside at the passenger seat infront. Me: U Lilitha akahambi? Xolo: No he went home with mom. Me: Without saying goodbye? Xolo: Well I told him to wait for you and he said you not important. A stab to my heart,he said that?. I feel a lamb in my throat and I swallow hard. I thought he liked, I thought he actually loved me. Yes we were cousins but, we knew that after he fell inlove with me, after he led me to fall inlove with him. If this had to happen few weeks back I wouldve been happy but not now. I hear Xolo tell Sam the directions and I listen to him, trying not to think about what he told me. We get at the community clinic and Sam parks the car. We get out and walk towards it. The conditions were too horrible, there were people which were stabbed or beaten up waiting to be helped. The smell was to unbearable, I get close to Xolo and lean against him so that I can smell his perfume. Sam was carrying the plate and the cooldrink. We walk towards the receptionist. Xolo: Molo mam. Her: Molweni. Xolo: Besizobona u Lathi Sonke. Her: Lathitha Sonke, Lathitha Sonke... She kept saying that, going thorugh a pile of folders. Well I never knew Lathis full name was Lathitha, I smiled. She finally gave Xolo something to sign. Her: Room A2B. Xolo: Enkosi. We walked around till we found it, we got in and I saw him from a distance. There were about 10 beds in that room, I refused to look at them. Till we got to Lathis bed. I was still glued to Xolos arm. Lathi was facing the other way when I called out his name and he turned to look at me, then everything was dark. I only saw darkness. Things that happened in my life were just to wrong for my age.
