Inside Capital City Football Playoff Preview This week we will preview the first two rounds of the Playoffs for the teams in the Capital City area. Franklin County Flyers Franklin County rolls into the 2013 playoffs as the 2 seed and a 9-1 record on the season. The Flyers this season are averaging 44.6 points per game and their opponents are scoring 19 points per game. They last 2 seasons the Flyers have lost in the regional final to one of the Northern Kentucky teams. This year the Flyers are trying to get over the 3rd round hurdle. The play host Scott High in the first round of the 5A playoffs. Over the last couple of years the Flyers have made short work of the Eagles defeating Scott the last 4 times they have played. The have outscored Scott 221- 76 the in the previous 4 games. Franklin County defense has improved from previous seasons. The question remains in round 1 has Scott’s defense improved? Predictions for Round 1 – Franklin 42 – Scott 21 2nd Round If the seeds hold serve as I predict the Franklin County will have to travel and take on South Oldham. South Oldham comes into the playoffs at 7-3 record on season averaging 28.5 points and allowed their opponents to score 23.4 points per game. Frankfort High Panthers The Frankfort High Panthers have dreams of practicing on Turkey day. The Panthers in 2007 got a small taste of the turkey day practice and are hungry for some more. Since then the Panthers have not been able to escape past the 3rd round. This season the Panthers have been hiding below the gun line in hopes to improve and go unnoticed among its peers, hoping to ambush a few as they make a playoff run. The Panthers come into the playoffs at 8-2 on the season averaging 39 points per game and opponents have scored an average of 13 points per game. Their first round opponent will be the Green Devils from Dayton who are 2-8 and have lost their last six games. Dayton has only scored 26 points during those six losses. They both share a common opponent this season in Bracken County. Dayton lost to Bracken by six points and the Panthers defeated the Polar Bears 78-0. Prediction Round 1 – Frankfort 56 – Dayton 0 Round 2 brings together to a group of familiar folks. As The Bellevue Tigers would travel south to Frankfort in round two, Coach Johnny Poynter is very familiar with Coach Foley and the Panthers. Coach Poynter and Coach Foley coached together in Bourbon County and then again when Coach Poynter was in the same district at Trimble County. What is unfamiliar is Bellevue offensive attack. The Tigers have scored a ton of points via an air raid attack, led by their QB Tyler Ackerson who has thrown for 2627 yards and 22 touchdowns. The Tigers for years have taken the 3 yards and cloud of dust they have turned it to a no huddle passing attack. The tigers are scoring 37 points a game and giving up 17 points per game. Question for many fans will the Tigers revamped offense lead to a different results in the playoffs? bluegrasspreps/ky-football-high/inside-capital-city-265420.html
