Inspired again Scripture The people were amazed. They asked each other, “What is happening here? This man is teaching something new, and he teaches with authority! He even commands evil spirits, and they obey him.” So the news about Jesus spread quickly everywhere in the area of Galilee. Mark 1:27-28 Meditation Do you recall your favorite teacher when you were a kid? Perhaps it was an elementary school teacher who gave you confidence you could be anything you desire, or a high school teacher who was pivotal in setting you on your career path. Maybe you were homeschooled or tutored. Whoever it was, he or she is memorable to you because there was just something about their teaching style that caught your attention, made you listen and learn, and inspired you to action. So it was for many of those who heard Jesus Christ teach. Like no other, the Lord connected with His students and taught with such authority, He separated Himself from the others. The people saw this as “something new” that gave them an understanding of God’s words they’d never had before. Now ask yourself: does the Lord and His Word still inspire you, or has His teachings—and even His presence—become ordinary to you? Ask God to help you to again be amazed by Him and the Bible. Move yourself to action in response to what He says. Draw closer to Him. Prayer Lord, forgive me for any way I’ve allowed my relationship with You, or my love of Your Word, to grow stale. Renew my desire for You and Your authoritative teaching. Amen.
