Institute of Islamic Banking (#IIB) holds a #NationalConference on #IslamicBanking - Perspectives in Islamic Banking, Finance and Investments at University of Management and Technology (#UMT), Lahore, Pakistan on 24th September, 2014. The Conference is slated to be a major forum for discussion on both contemporary and future dimensions of Islamic Banking Finance and Investments. Papers were presented form scholars, practitioners, researchers and postgraduate students of Islamic Banking covering both theoretical and empirical work under the following themes: • Islamic Banking, Finance and Investment • Islamic Accounting and Shariah Auditing • Islamic Accounting and Shariah Auditing • Islamic Social Security • Islamic Economics System • Issues in Waqaf The conference was started with the name of Allah and specific verses recitation from the Holy Quran by Mr. Muhammad Irfan, MS Islamic Bankinfg and Finance student at IIB, UMT. Mr. Mahmood Shah Khan, Director IIB welcome the honorable guest, speakers and presenters in this esteemed mega event. Justice (R) Khalil ur Rehman, Chairman, Punjab Halal Development Agency and Former Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan and Chairman, Shariah Advisory Committee Al-Baraka Bank was Guest of Honor . It is worth worthy to note that he was the chairman of Shariah appellant bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan who gave the famous decision against involvement of Riba in Pakistan financial sector. Mr. Gullam M. Abassi, Director, Islamic Banking Department, State Bank of Pakistan also gives his valued remarks on the significance of Islamic Banking industry within Pakistan and as well around the globe. Prof. Muhammad Ayub, Director Riphah Centre of Islamic Business, Pakistan and Mr. Amjad Saqib, Director, Akhuwat give a brief overview of product development, banking regulation and Shari´ah compliance of conventional system into Islamic system over the period of time. Mir Sajjad Rafiq, Vice President, MCB Islamic Banking also thanks IIB on the behalf of MCB Islamic Banking team for arranging such a valuable research oriented event. In key note address Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector, UMT said western world is also looking for solution of financial crunches with in Islamic law and practices.
