Insulin is an anabolic hormone that functions to increase growth, - TopicsExpress

Insulin is an anabolic hormone that functions to increase growth, DNA synthesis and cell replication. Beta cells are found on the pancreas and are responsible for insulin production, storage and release. During digestion, ‘the bodies’ blood glucose levels will tend to rise and beta cells have to quickly respond by secreting insulin previously stored whilst at the same time continue to produce the hormone. Individuals suffering from diabetes may have beta cells desensitized from a misguided attack of the immune system and repeated intake of high glycemic index foods.
