Insurgency: Transporters Want IGP To Bring Back Road Blocks The president of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, High Chief Musa Shehu, has called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar, to bring back the police roadblocks.Shehu made the call yesterday while briefing journalists on the effort of his association to participate with security agencies to avert the threat by the insurgents. The president who disclosed that the leadership of his association had summoned an emergency meeting of all her members to sensitise and update them on the activities of the association to ensure that their ranks were not infiltrated, said they were leaving no stone unturned, to avert any disaster. “In the first place, God exposed them by making it known to security agencies so it is not going to happen. What the Inspector General of Police should do is to bring back the road blocks. If there were roadblocks I don’t think that they would have allowed those 35 vehicles to travel all the way from the north before being arrested in Abia.“ We are holding an emergency meeting to tell all our drivers to be on the alert. That is why road block is necessary,” he said. Chief Shehu who called on Nigerians to be more vigilant and ensure that they report all strange persons and activities to the security agencies, also urged the agencies to be cautious.According to him, the insurgents may have said petrol tankers but may end up using other vehicles.
