Intelligent Georges St. Pierre open to super fight against Brock Lesnar This probably wont come as a surprise to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, who seems to be getting used to the crazy comments from former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. At least this time, hes not way out of line. Rush has been enjoying some time off after surrendering his strap and walking away from the fight game in late 2013, citing a litany of personal issues and career burnout. While he has yet to officially retire, St. Pierre will not commit to an Octagon return. But if he did... The longtime pay-per-view (PPV) king would be open to competing against the best fighters in the world, regardless of weight class, because its less about 170-pounds of gold and more about the challenge. Even if it means lacing up the gloves against former heavyweight titleholder Brock Lesnar. The ex-champ talks to Combate (via MMA Fighting): I got to a point in my career that, even though I loved the belt, I wasnt fighting for it anymore. It had more to do with my opponent and the challenge. I rather fight a better fighter with no title on the line than fighting a regular fighter in a title fight. The fight itself is what interests me the most. Some fighters want to fight me because of my name, others for the money. I would fight Anderson Silva. I would even fight Brock Lesnar if its a fair fight for both. Im not afraid of anyone, but Im not stupid (laughs). Many people think that a fight shows whos the toughest, but thats not my case. I see things in a professional and intelligent way. So it sounds like St. Pierre is open to a super fight against a guy with a broken leg, or a professional wrestler who retired in 2011 after a career-ending battle with diverticulitis. Yo, GSP! Alistair Overeem called! He wants his shtick back! All kidding aside, St. Pierre has been paying attention to what has been going on inside the Octagon, undoubtedly a good sign for those fight fans holding out hope the French-Canadian will Rush back to the UFC by years end, which according to this guy, is the ex-champs expiration date. And dont be surprised to see the outcome of this provide a little extra motivation.
