Intentional Living Psalm 20:4 … “May he grant you according - TopicsExpress

Intentional Living Psalm 20:4 … “May he grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose.” The word “purpose” is popular today. Books have been written about the importance of living with purpose. Companies and government agencies have “purpose statements” that depict what they are supposed to be doing or delivering. Another word for purpose, is intent. When you live according to a plan, you are living in an intentional manner. It is important for believers to be sure they are living according to God’s plan, not their own. We have said before that God created you for two reasons: 1) to worship him, and 2) to serve him. If you are not accomplishing both of those objectives, then there is little reason for your existence. If you ARE living out those objectives, then another guideline comes into play: serving God according to his purpose – or design – for you. God’s general plan is for all believers to serve him but serving him is not the same as believing in him; it is a separate and intentional act. Intentional living means that you accept God’s unique and special plan for your life, which you learn by being continually connected to God through regular prayer and Bible reading. Then, you step out into the world and live according to that plan. God’s plan may be for you to minister to the children you teach in school, the co-workers you work beside in the market, the people who ride in your tricycle or van, men on your fishing boat, in the field, or in the forest. Perhaps God’s plan is for you to minister to the neighborhood gossips, your customers, or the people who come to your office. And for some, serving God is a full-time job as a pastor or missionary. God’s plan is for you to serve others in HIS name, wherever he has placed you. Are you trying to change your job or career? Be careful, you might be working against God’s plan for your life. Never pursue another job or location without consulting God. I can say from experience that there is no greater joy or peace, than knowing and living according to God’s plan. You can have that joy, too. Copyright © 2013 Datu Wali Mission Foundation
